Decision to Leave Amca
Amca has been super fun for the past year, in my role right now I don't think I'm learning much technically (although as a person at Amca I'm learning a lot) and for the past few weeks I've been struggling to find inspiration. My day to day Amca computer work is pretty rote and I'm glad Connor is joining. He should be able to ramp up immediately and be just as effective as me/SeanWap within 20 minutes and I can answer any questions about history/culture of the software team so he should have no blockers to be an ultra effective Amca SWE.
I think aesthetically it is fitting to leave as we move in to the new office and the feeling of the new is affecting me too.
Main questions for me are do I want another role at Amca or do I want to explore something else and figure it out. I think another role would be fun because I enjoy spending time with everyone but I do want to push towards more change right now as AI is getting weird and I think about what I want to do in the future. It's mainly preserving attention and mindspace to think. I currently have no plans thought out as I leave.
