Moving Sleepy People
I came across an article stating how pedestrians naturally move in counter clockwise motions in large crowds (including in mosh pits etc). This reminds me of casino design where sharp right turns are deliberately avoided because it jolts visitors into thinking whether or not they should change direction. Left hand turns are easy and mindless.
This is the endless goon and is maybe unavoidable.
What can be applied practically is everyone wants things to be easier for them and ease without friction is required. Whether asking a colleague/mentor to do something or providing a service (AKA city bikes should not be so annoying to start using - @Bcycle Santa Cruz. I'm certain I would have used them more often if the sign up feature was seamless). Everyone is gooning.
Side Note:
I read a book by a german philosopher who talks about the "becoming" as the present and the active vs. the "actualization" which is the end state. He argues that the end state is static and dead while the current (becoming) state is alive. This idea moved to the modern world is pro gooning and I think I'm more against it than for it.
It feels like the opportunity cost mindset where no compounding benefits can accrue because people are constantly switching.
